Airlines install IFC antennas as part of a service agreement. The IFC service provider generally selects the antenna on behalf of an airline. IFC antennas may not be interoperable with other IFC providers, which can lead to “vendor-lock”. Airlines and Original Equipment Manufacturers are now looking at IFC antennas as an investment independent from the IFC service provision.
